Nursery & Children’s Worship

for Sunday Mornings

As you likely already know, Redeemer Kids has experienced considerable growth over the last year. We are grateful for the many children God has brought to be a part of our church, and want to do everything we can to keep our classroom spaces safe, open, and welcoming to all.

Redeemer has always valued children being a part of corporate worship and love having your child with us in the sanctuary. We also want to provide options for families wherever your child is developmentally.

Given our building constraints, we need to adapt some of our procedures that allow us to use our limited space more effectively, and ensure a more secure check-in/check out process that integrates what we’ve learned from working with GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment).

For Ages 0-3 (Nursery)

All children ages 0-3 who are checked-in will now be part of our nursery space. This will be a change for 3-year-olds who currently participate in Children’s Worship. The locations for drop off differ slightly for 8:30 and 11:00 because of current attendance levels. You can continue to decide if or when you’d like to drop your child off in the Nursery whether it is

  • immediately upon arrival

  • during the liturgy

  • during the sermon

Regardless of when you drop your child off, you will need to pick up your child in their classroom by the end of the service.

8:30 Options

  1. Ages 0-18 months (Room 170): Children ages 0-18 months will be welcomed in a new Nursery space in Room 170 across the hallway from the current Nursery location.

  2. 19 months-3 years (Rooms 150 A and B): Children ages 19 months through three years old will be welcomed into the current Nursery location, Rooms 150 A & B. Three-year-olds will have a Bible Story and craft in lieu of Children’s Worship during the sermon in 150 B.

11:00 Option

  • All children who are checked in (Rooms 150 A and B), ages 0-3, will be dropped off at the current Nursery location. Three-year-olds will have a Bible Story and craft in lieu of Children’s Worship during the sermon.

 Ages 4-Kindergarten (Children’s Worship)

Children ages 4-Kindergarten are still welcome to join us for Children’s Worship, but our drop-off/pick-up procedures are changing significantly.

  • All children attending Children’s Worship will now be dropped off and picked up at the door of the Children’s Worship classroom (Room 160A.) You will place one nametag on your child, give one nametag to the volunteer at the door for their roster, and keep your security tag for checkout.

  • We will continue to offer a lesson especially designed for this age group during the sermon, but you may choose when to drop your child off whether it is ten minutes before the service starts, at any point during the liturgy, right before the sermon, or not at all.

  • All children in Children’s Worship must be picked up by the end of communion. Please present your security tag to the volunteer at the classroom door.

For your convenience, we are adding an additional check-in station to the hallway between the Harrison Gallery and Redeemer Kid’s hallway.

As you might imagine, these changes all require us to grow our volunteer teams. If you are interested in serving even just once a month in Nursery or Children’s Worship, please e-mail nextgen@redeemindy.org

We’re excited about these changes for multiple reasons. They help make our systems safer and more secure, and provide new opportunities for spiritual formation. We know, however, that change is hard, and every solution brings its own set of pros and cons. Thank you for bearing with us and making room for Redeemer to welcome and care for all of the children God entrusts us with.
