Sometimes it is difficult to see God’s presence as the reward of prayer. Instead, we would rather have the thing prayed for -- such as healing of a disease, provision of rent money, mending of a broken relationship -- more than God. Our household worship this week goes through Scriptures that help us see God as our ultimate reward -- especially in prayer.
Monday, June 22nd Scripture: Matthew 6:5-13 Song: Praise to the Lord vs. 1-2 pg. 2 Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the valued treasure in the secret room. Will you please help me to see you this way as I go to you in prayer? Wherever I approach you in prayer -- home, work, while driving, anywhere -- may it be like entering a special vault filled with amazing treasure simply because you are there -- caring for me and loving me.
Tuesday, June 23rd Scriptures: Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:15-16, 6:12 Song: Praise to the Lord vs. 3-4 pg. 2 Prayer: Lord Jesus, even you, the Son of God, depended upon the Father through prayer while you lived on earth. You always enjoy your Father’s presence. I struggle with depending upon the Father. I wrestle with enjoying his presence. Please send Holy Spirit to assist me to see how much the Father desires me to be in his presence and be filled with his love.
Wednesday, June 24th Scripture: Psalm 62 Song: There is a Fountain vs. 1-2 pg. 5 Prayer: God, for you alone my soul waits! You are my sure rock -- the one upholds me in distress. You are my salvation -- the one who rescues me from destruction. You are my fortress -- the one who surrounds me with loving care. In you I will not be shaken. Thank you!
Thursday, June 25th Scripture: Psalm 63 Song: There is a Fountain vs. 3-5 pg. 5 Prayer: Teach me, O my God, to thirst for you! To long for you more than even the food and drink I need to live! To seek you and your presence wherever I may go! For when I believed upon Jesus, you sent Holy Spirit to dwell within me always. Holy Spirit, grant me the grace of remembering my Heavenly Father’s many provisions of answered prayer and how you delight to watch over me, as your beloved child.
Friday, June 26th Scripture: Psalm 73 Song: How Vast the Benefits vs. 1-2 pg. 13 Prayer: Lord Jesus, my good and faithful protector, help me to see how you hold me in the midst of despair. Please guide me to see your goodness in the midst of sorrow and suffering. Show me that nothing on earth -- things such as healing, financial security, even familial love -- is more desired than you!
Saturday, June 27th Scripture: Revelation 7:9-17 Song: How Vast the Benefits vs. 3 pg. 13 Prayer: Jesus, you are my ultimate reward. The heavenly scene is one of praise and full satisfaction of who you are! Grant me hope in this truth -- that you are my reward and that you will bring me home to be with you forever. Make this hope strong and real in me. Encourage me with glimpses of heavenly realities of dwelling with you forever.
