Join us in the gym from 10am–1:30pm as we pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child and birthday bags for SweetWater families.
The Deacon Team is leading our congregation in acts of service, mercy, and justice during Mercy Month. One tangible opportunity is to donate supplies that will be used to pack boxes for two organizations that seek to show the love of Christ to children: Operation Christmas Child and SweetWater.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are delivered by Samaritan’s Purse to children in over 100 countries.
They are delivered by local pastors and community leaders who have been trained in ministry and in implementing a follow-up discipleship program.
SweetWater is a local ministry to at-risk mothers and kids involved with Safe Families.
SweetWater meets at Redeemer, so this is a way to love our local neighbors.
We will be packing birthday boxes with cake, icing, and a gift card to assist the mom in purchasing a gift for her child on his/her birthday.
Every week in October, we will be collecting unwrapped supplies in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary. On October 27, we will have a Packing Party in the gym from 10am–1:30pm. This will be a great opportunity for your whole family to get involved!
Each OCC box requires $9 to ship and process, and each SweetWater box will come with a small Wal-Mart gift card ($20) that the mom can use to buy a personalized present for her child. To contribute monetary funds for either, give during the offering time any week during October with the memo, “OCC/SW”.

New Star Community
At Redeemer, we affirm the value of each person, regardless of age or culture, as an image-bearer of God. One way our congregation reaches out to the community is through our New Star Community ministry at 16 Park Apartments near our church building. With after-school tutoring, worship and youth group connections, and monthly community dinners, New Star seeks to build connection, education, and spiritual growth among the kids at 16 Park and their families.
Volunteer to tutor at New Star’s after school program. Email Caroline Fridblom [firstname.lastname@example.org].
Sponsor, help with, or attend a monthly dinner—as an individual, family, or community group.
Give to New Star’s enrichment fund for field trips, outings, and other goals.
Write letters of encouragement to New Star kids and volunteers.
