Our household worship over the next few weeks will be focused on growing in our capacity to mourn. To do this we will journey with David through the Psalms listening to his mourning and grieving, and learning from him how to mourn, grieve, and lament. The following Scripture’s are meant to guide you into godly mourning.

Monday, February 23 Scripture: Psalm 2 Song: Rejoice, the Lord is King vs. 1-2 pg. 2 Prayer: In this Psalm David mourns that the nations are in rebellion against God. Mourn that we live in a world in rebellion against the true King Jesus.

Tuesday, February 24 Scripture: Psalm 3 Song: Rejoice, the Lord is King vs. 3-4 pg. 2 Prayer: In this Psalm David mourns that his own son and many other people have betrayed him and risen up against him. Mourn for relationships in your life that are broken, where you have been betrayed, where you are being attacked.

Wednesday, February 25 Scripture: Psalm 4 Song; Great is Thy Faithfulness vs. 1 pg. 5 Prayer: In this Psalm David mourns that people reject and despise God. Mourn that many people you know and even love do not glorify God your Heavenly Father.

Thursday, February 26 Scripture: Psalm 5 Song; Great is Thy Faithfulness vs. 2-3 pg. 5 Prayer: In this Psalm David is sad because the wicked speak with flattering words but their heart is full of deceit. Mourn the deceit in the hearts of people, including yourself, and rejoice that God is your shield.

Friday, February 27 Scripture: Psalm 6 Song: Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness vs. 1-2 pg.18 Prayer: In this Psalm David mourns and cries out for deliverance from hurtful people. Mourn the reality that you too may have enemies. Pray that God would deliver your life.

Saturday, February 28 Scripture: Psalm 7 Song: Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness vs. 3-4 pg.18 Prayer: In this Psalm David grieves that a man named Cush, a Benjamite, attacked him with lying words. Mourn also that people have spoken lies about you and pray that God would be your shield and deliver your life.
