Phil Edwards Class on Urban Hospitality

20150309_220824Last week, we introduced Phil Edward's class on Urban Hospitality  to you.  As a church, we are really looking forward to having Phil back with us to teach. Phil has been a friend of Redeemer's for many years and it is always good to see his face around our halls once again. Phil has served in urban ministry for 30 years, mobilizing congregations for services opportunities in oran settings. He served as the pastor of outreach for New City PCA in Chattanooga, TN, a multiethnic congregation. Phil and his family moved to Indianapolis in 2008 and started Hope for Indy. He then served at Shepherd Community Center and Grace Church in Noblesville. In each of these ministries he has been a tireless and joyful advocate for engaging congregations in multi-ethnic worship and mission. Phil recently accepted a position as pastor and outreach director at Soma Church in Glendale where he will continue his ministry of Christian Urban Hospitality. Phil and his wife, Francoise, life just down from Arsenal Tech and have two daughters, Jessica and Lauren.

Phil's two week class will provide a biblical perspective on how individuals organically engage their neighbors in an urban/inner city context. We will have interactive discussions on neighborhood and cultural dynamics, as well as establish practical steps to engaging your neighbors and building reciprocating relationships. We will look into what it looks like to build relationships with people from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds because we know and celebrate that Jesus established the church from "every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages" (Rev 7:9).

Looking forward to seeing you at this class on April 26th and May 3rd in the middle hour (10:00) in Gallery 2!
