Encounter Indy

Pentecost PictureWhat is Encounter Indy?

Encounter Indy is a youth event focused on training our students (6th-12th grades) to understand and embrace their role in the mission of God within the urban settings of Indianapolis. Through Encounter Indy, youth are given many opportunities to encounter their call to have a faithful presence in the city, as we are church in the city and for the city.

Focus of 2015 Encounter Indy:

The primary focus of Encounter Indy will again be the 16 Park Apartments, particularly the New Star partner ministry found there, as the youth will be leading a three-day super hero themed camp, ending with a block party for 16 Park.

Along with preparing for and running this camp, Encounter Indy training components include daily worship and work at Redeemer coupled with teaching modules with Redeemer partners: LYN House, Young Life, and New Star.

During Encounter Indy, students stay in Redeemer homes near the church as a way of better understanding Redeemer’s urban context. Lastly, Encounter Indy will feature many chances for structured chaos such as swimming in the MLK pool, capture the flag, pizza party movie night, Grub House, and Kountry Kitchen.
