Meet our Elder Nominees

One of the privileges of our Presbyterian form of church government -- you, the members of Redeemer, nominate and elect your own officers. Last December you nominated people to be officers. Through the several month training and testing process some nominees determined that they are not certain of their calling or that this is not the right time to serve as an officer. With thanksgiving, the men below are ready to stand for election as elders. They come with the Session’s recommendation to serve you. Officer elections are on Sunday, Nov. 22. Please take the next weeks to know these men if you do not know them already. They are available in the Hospitality Center after the first worship service. You can ask them questions about their calling to serve, how they will shepherd the church and things like that. Knowing these nominees will help you to have confidence in how you intend to vote for them.Ryan Brumbaugh-colorRyan Brumbaugh: I have long had a general sense of call to leadership in the church. In the last few years, my understanding of the office of elder grew and along with it my desire to pursue it. I have fear of failing to love and lead well but I know God is faithful and his strength is perfected in my weaknesses.

I was born and raised in Kansas spending summers on the farm where my mom grew up. I earned a degree in engineering geology from the University of Kansas and my first job brought me to Indianapolis. Kate and I met through Redeemer and now we live in Fall Creek Place with our family (Evangeline, 4 yr; Alistair 20 mo). I currently work as a geophysicist for an environmental remediation firm based in Irvington. We enjoy adventures on our tandem bicycle with our kids in tow.

Josh Plemon ColorJosh Plemon: I am excited to be joining the session.  This is a call that God has put on my life and has been confirmed through close family and friends. I really enjoy leading our community group and leading worship. I look forward to helping lead our congregation in the truths of the gospel

Here are a few fun facts about me:

I was born in Carbondale IL.

We moved to Indianapolis in 2012. We live on Talbott St.

I work for Adidas as the Senior Art Proofer. I have been married to Becky for 21 years and we have two incredible kids, Simon (15) and Dyllan (13).

benBen Reed: I grew up in Indianapolis, graduated from Taylor University and began attending Redeemer in 2002 with my wife, Nikki (we were married at Redeemer in 2003). We then moved away for a few years. We returned home to Indy and Redeemer in 2009, and I began working for Redeemer in 2010. Redeemer is the place where I first encountered the life-changing effects of Christian community. Though I was raised in the church, my faith came alive when I found Redeemer. Our church and its people have ministered to me in profound ways as I have grown in my understanding of who God is and how much he loves me. I feel called to be an elder because I want to minister to others in similar ways. Nikki and I have three daughters (Vivian, 6, Sylvia, 4 and Josephine, 1) and are proud Eastsiders living in Irvington.
