December is nominations month at Redeemer - and there's just nine days left to turn your nominations in! Please prayerfully consider who you might nominate for the office of Elder, Deacon, Deaconess. A nomination guide can be found below and will walk you through who might be a good fit for any of these roles.
Next, be sure to fill out a nomination form (also found below OR digitally by clicking here
). The form will walk you through the steps but you will need to be sure to ask your nominee before submitting their name and get them to initial the form to verify that they know they are being nominated. If your candidate has already been approached, nomination them anyway so that we can see that the individual has lots of support.
Nominees will go through the Gospel Leadership classes if they have not done so already. These two classes (theology and character) run during the spring semester. They will then go through ministerial training during the spring and summer and will be up for election in the fall of 2016.
What should you look for in Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses? A great summary of officer qualifications is found 1 Timothy 3:1-13. In short, these individuals need to exhibit an advanced maturity of Christian character, ministry leadership gifts and skills, and a commitment to Redeemer’s vision. They must also have been a Christian for at least three years and a member of Redeemer for at least one year at the time they are nominated.
Nominations are due December 31 to Shirley Earnest: firstname.lastname@example.org.
