Food Drive

  • Redeemer Indianapolis 1505 North Delaware Street Indianapolis, IN, 46202 United States (map)

More than 120,000 Marion County residents have lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits since November 1 due to the federal government shutdown. Redeemer is calling our congregation to get involved and care for the many neighbors, families, children, and seniors who are experiencing food insecurity and need help meeting their nutritional needs.

Ways to Help

Donate Food

Bring in non-perishable food items to Redeemer between November 16 and November 30. Donated food items will be distributed to Shepherd Community Center and a food pantry in Haughville. Suggested food item donations include:

  • Oatmeal

  • Cereal

  • Powdered milk

  • Pasta

  • Rice

  • Gravy mix

  • Boxed mac & cheese

  • Canned tuna

  • Canned chicken

  • Peanut butter

  • Jam/jelly

  • Canned fruit

  • Canned vegetables

  • Canned soup

  • Spaghetti sauce

Make a Financial Gift

United Way of Central Indiana has launched a $1 million Food Relief Fund, which supports three major organizations: Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Midwest Food Bank of Indiana, and Second Helpings. Every $1 donated creates six meals.

Get Involved

Volunteer at one of our partner ministries – Shepherd Community Center and Family Hope. Walk alongside people who are in need of help and support them. Figure out how volunteering at Shepherd could work into your life, or how you could be a part of a group of friends/Redeemerites that supports one family in crisis through Family Hope. Let them know they are seen and loved. Put yourself in situations where you can get to know people who are hungry and in need of care.

Look out for neighbors who might be visiting church on Sunday mornings for the first time because they are looking for food. Grab a doughnut. Be welcoming. Get a deacon if you need help.
