Katie Ito Carrera
Kitchen Coordinator
As one of our amazing Kitchen Coordinators, Katie oversees hospitality operations. Her job entails prepping for Sunday mornings—coffee and refreshments—and keeping the church kitchen stocked and well-maintained for all food-related ministry needs. Through her work at the church, Katie looks for ways to bless our neighbors and congregants by stocking our deep freezer with home-cooked meals, and she often partners with the care team to teach others how to cook with care and intentionality.
Katie received a culinary arts degree from Ivy Tech in 2019 and later graduated from Taylor University in 2023, where she studied Studio Art and Pre-Art Therapy. She is a ceramics instructor, tech, and member at Yellow Door Ceramics Studio. In 2025, Katie was a resident artist and chef for Falcon Creek Farm, a permaculture-practicing urban farm on the west-side of Indy. Katie now works as a personal chef in the Indianapolis area.
Katie originally hails from Chicago, IL, but was raised in Nora with her parents, sister, and two brothers. She now lives in Mapleton-Fall Creek with her husband, Cullen. They enjoy spending time with family, making collaborative art pieces, exploring Indy’s food and film scene, and watching good movies (and reviewing them on Letterboxd afterward). Katie is an avid birdwatcher and collector of rocks, leaves, sticks, and sea glass, frequenting Eagle Creek, Indiana Dunes National Park, and most recently, Kennebunk Port, ME, where Katie and Cullen went for their honeymoon! Katie loves hosting dinners and sending out her monthly recipes via The Soup Club Newsletter.
