Easter Art (2026)
Around a dozen artists led and collaborated this year to produce Eastertide art. Each artist worked hard and thoughtfully to create a piece depicting a different interpretation of Isaiah 11:1–10.
Cover Art
Erin Hall with Corey Hall, Peaceable Kingdom Diorama, 2026
The peaceable kingdom concept came from how we approach heaven as children playfully; full of hope and wonder and with our imagination. In this way we engage the Spirit and are filled and equipped to do good works now in more rigid and broken spaces.
Back Wall
Tom Peck, Galilean Boat, 2024
Barb Knuckles, A Thousand Tongues to Sing: Preview, 2026, strips of Kozo (Mulberry) tissue paper with Raintree leaf and banana fiber inclusions, painted and then lettered with gold acrylic
Twenty-seven languages are represented, thanks to the help of the congregation and friends, and the words are from Isaiah 11:1–10, describing Jesus and his coming Kingdom.
Banners
Martha Surridge and Creative Class, 2026, Native Indiana pine cones and giant Sugar Pine cones with boxwood greenery
The garlands evoke the idea of Aaron’s rod that budded, flowered, and fruited in demonstration of the power of the One who gives life. The first week featured simply the pine cones, the following week, greenery, and on the final Sunday, flowers.
Hanging Florals
Katie Pourcho, Martha Surridge, Stephanie Pilcher, and Creative Class, Easter Flowers, 2026
Extrapolating on the Lenten cloud and rain installation, these floral elements and branch structures direct our hearts to the Garden-City that Christ’s work established. Like a spring rain watering the earth, the sorrows acknowledged during the Lenten season and Holy Week are not the end of the story. Jesus the Branch brings a“banner of salvation to the world.” (Isaiah 11)
That these elements are coming down out of heaven acknowledges the common grace of our loving Father who makes the rain to fall on all men, righteous and otherwise.
South Window
Kyrie Lewis, Peaceable Kingdom, 2026, acrylic paint on muslin
The same God who made the native Indiana plants and animals is preparing a glorious place for us in the Peaceable Kingdom, where the poison ivy and the mosquitoes are reformed and beautiful alongside the wild geraniums and the deer.
Communion Set
Kyle Ragsdale, 2026
