Sam loves helping people be curious about what God is up to in their lives, and see how the good news of Jesus impacts literally everything. As Pastor of Groups and Formation, Sam focuses on the big-picture vision for how we grow towards wholeness in the gospel. This includes overseeing Community Groups and other formation ministries, developing leaders, and supporting staff who work in formation.

Before joining Redeemer in 2020, Sam served as a pastor in St. Louis, where he and his family lived for ten years. He holds an M.Div from Covenant Theological Seminary and also studied theology at Calvin College.

Sam and his wife Katelyn have been married since 2010, live on the near east side, and have four amazing daughters. On any given day, you’re likely to find them riding bikes, drinking good coffee, exploring their neighborhood, or singing along to Wilco.
